iff's research and advice base enables it to travel the road from theory to practice and back; in providing both advice and research, it conducts analysis of the problems and interests of consumers, investors, homeowners, small entrepreneurs and the non-profit sector.

This knowledge base can be used to expose fundamental shortcomings in structures and products, and to develop and improve legal guidelines. We offer state institutions and advice organisations support in their monitoring work, and we give advice to providers on product development and marketing.

Modern technology, such as the Internet and electronic data-processing programmes, make a major contribution to this process. Clients include foundations, government departments, associations, banks, insurance companies and international organisations.
