Focus: Debt counseling, over-indebtedness
Caro Berndt has been employed by iff since July 2024 and has been working as a research associate since January 2025. She is a qualified social education worker (B.A.) with further training as a debtor and insolvency counselor and previously worked in this position at Diakonisches Werk Pfalz. Thanks to her work in the specialist programme for debtor and insolvency counselling in the addiction support of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, she has specialized knowledge of existing correlations between addiction and debt. Her main focus lies in the field of debt and over-indebtedness research and the practice of social debt counseling.
Caro Berndt is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Social Work at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society with a research focus on qualitative methods. In 2021-2023, she conducted research on behalf of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation as a research assistant at the University of Business and Society on the financing of debtor and insolvency counseling in the state of Bavaria and its possible transferability to other federal states.
