Vom 15.07.2021 bis 17.07.2021 findet die 18. Welt­verbraucher­rechtskonferenz der International Association of Consumer Law im Rudolf Steiner Haus, Hamburg unter dem Leitthema „Challenges and Unanswered Questions of Consumer Law“ statt. IACL-Konferenzen werden alle zwei Jahre und in der Regel von Universitäten ausgerichtet. Die letzten Veranstaltungsorte waren USA (2019), Brasilien (2017), Niederlande (2015), Australien (2013), Vereinigtes Königreich (2011), Indien (2009), Neuseeland (2007) und Südafrika (2005).

Die International Association of Consumer Law fördert Debatten rund um Verbraucherschutz und Verbraucherrecht. An den Konferenzen nehmen Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrer, Richterinnen und Richter, Anwältinnen und Anwälte sowie Vertreter von Regulierungsbehörden, Banken, Unternehmensgruppen und Verbraucherorganisationen teil. Die Konferenzen stehen allen Interessierten und nicht nur den Mitgliedern aus dem Bereich der universitären wie außeruniversitären Verbraucherforschung und Lehre offen.

Ziel der IACL ist es, Forschungsnetzwerke und gemeinsamen Forschungsprojekte im Bereich des Verbraucherrechts sowie der Verbraucherpolitik und der Verbraucherbeziehungen zu fördern. Staatliche Einrichtungen, Universitäten, Verbraucherorganisationen und Expertinnen und Experten werden dabei unterstützt.

Die Konferenz wird vom Vorstand der IACL (Vorsitz Prof. Michelle Louw, Kapstadt) in Zusammenarbeit mit einem nationalen Leitungsgremium unter Führung von Dr. Sally Peters und Prof. Udo Reifner geplant.

iff hosts the IACL International Consumer Law Conference 2021

The 18th World Consumer Law Conference of the International Association of Consumer Law (IACL) will take place in Hamburg on 15-17 July 2021 at the Rudolf Steiner Haus and carry the title „Challenges and Unanswered Questions of Consumer Law“. IACL conferences are held every two years and mostly hosted by universities. The hosting countries are deliberately chosen from the Global South as well as the Global North. The last conferences were held in the USA (2019), Brazil (2017), the Netherlands (2015), Australia (2013), UK (2011), India (2009), New Zealand (2007) and South Africa (2005).

The IACL promotes debates on consumer protection and consumer law. Conference attendees include university lecturers, judges, lawyers and representatives of regulatory authorities, banks, business groups and consumer organisations. The conferences are open to all interested parties, not only to members of academic and non-academic consumer research and educational institutions.

The aim of the IACL is to develop research networks and stimulate joint research projects in the area of consumer law, consumer policy and consumer relations. This includes supporting government institutions, universities, consumer organisations and experts.
The conference will be hosted by the IACL Executive Committee (chaired by Prof. Michelle Louw, Cape Town) in cooperation with a local executive committee led by Dr. Sally Peter and Prof. Udo Reifner.
